Impact CHRISTIAN CHURCH in Halifax, NOVA SCOTIA

Tim and Karen Cook along with their daughters, Suzannah and Madeline have been blessed with the opportunity and responsibility to plant churches since 2013. They have planted in a movie theatre, a coffee shop and are now planting Impact Christian Church in a co-vocational fashion. Impact Christian (IC) started February 1, 2021 in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia – just north of Halifax. They operate on a lean budget with just one part-time salary for Tim Cook (Church Planter), and have no rent to pay. Tim is also a part-time staff at Maritime Christian College in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and fills the role of Church Relations.

The current group meets for a weekly meal in the Cook’s home, where they engage in a Discovery Bible Study together. They pray together, take the Lord’s Supper, and discuss where they are going to serve in the community that week. They are intentional about making disciples that make disciples, and therefore the heart of Impact Christian is their Discovery Groups. They are training disciples to lead same gender groups of 3-5 people using “Trust and Follow Jesus”, a resource from Renew.org. They are encouraging each person in a group to start their own group after a season together. This is a reproducible process that will help them to multiply their efforts in disciple making. They have also partnered with Maritime Christian College, and have three people from IC taking disciple making courses that include practical application.

As part of serving their community, they currently have a partnership in place with The HELM (www.thehelmcenter.ca) where they are currently renovating a barn that will become a workshop for the residents. They encourage their group to invite friends, neighbours and relatives to come serve alongside them. They are intentional about seeking opportunities to share the gospel while serving.

Please join us in prayer that the Lord will send two more families who desire to come alongside them on mission - to help them make disciples that make disciples.
